The development, ossification, synchondroses and measurements of the posterior cranial fossa and its foramina and canals (with variations are demonstrated. On the outer skull base are demonstrated and discussed the measurements of the clivus area, the occipital condyles, the jugular foramen (undivided and divided) and their contents are included. Also are given some data of the development shapes, measurements of the atlas and axis and the ligaments of the craniocervical junction. Some variations of these important structures and the most important functions of the ligaments are described.
