The procedure of FES for strengthening weak muscles,
for standing up maintaining the standing position and a simple gait pattern is described. During standing by FES direct evoked responses (M-waves) were recorded in knee extensors (efferent stimulation), while during gait both direct evoked responses and reflex responses were found in different muscle groups of the swinging leg (efferent and afferent stimulation)
