This paper presents a comparison of data gained from 88 rheumatoid arthritic patients already prescribed a dorsal palmar, elastic or leather gauntlet wrist splint from three hospitals where all of these splint types were available. Significant differences were also found between the four groups when comparing the wearers' indicated use of splints for dressing, hanging clothes, sweeping, dusting and reading. The results support the view that certain splints are perceived to be better suited to specific patient characteristic and daily tasks.
