Arthroscopy is a useful tool in the management of multiple conditions about the ankle. To date, most procedures have been performed using traditional motorized or mechanical instruments, such as basket forceps and scissors. Thermal energy, however, is uniquely adaptable to ankle arthroscopy. The various modes of coagulation, ablation, and shrinkage can be used in the treatment of ankle pathology.
