Wrist stiffness can occur after injury to the wrist and surrounding structures.
Frequently hand therapists treat this stiffness with static-progressive splinting
techniques in an attempt to lengthen shortened tissues through tissue growth and
collagen reorganization. The hand therapist's goal is to fabricate a splint that
effectively increases range of motion in a timely and cost-effective manner.
Through creative images, these authors illustrate their fabrication of a
static-progressive wrist extension and/or flexion splint that is cost effective
and can be fabricated in 22 minutes.
