Fifty-seven patients with spastic diplegia underwent one-stage bilateral proximal
soft tissue release for correction of lower limb deformities. The indications for
surgery were improvement of gait and posture and facilitation of toilet care.
Significant improvement in ambulatory status followed operation, and most parents
were pleased.
