The dynamic behaviour of a one-link model of the human forearm is studied. The model reference adaptive aspect and the questions of parameter against signal adaptation are analysed by modelling the neural control mechanisms of the muscles. It is demonstrated that, for a precise target hit, a parameter adaptation scheme, corresponding to a central programming of system gains, is necessary.
This programming of gains may shed some light on further functional aspects of the central nervous system.
